About me
Hello, I’m Joanna - a relational Gestalt psychotherapist in advanced training based in York. I offer both in-person psychotherapy sessions for adults in York and online therapy in the UK and internationally, working with people who want to deepen their self-awareness, experience more authentic connection and self-worth and find joy in their relationships.
I believe that healing occurs within the context of genuine human connection and I therefore seek to provide a warm, welcoming and confidential environment for clients to understand the root of their suffering and develop new capacities to transform their life.
My approach is rooted in relational Gestalt therapy principles, emphasising the importance of present-moment awareness, embodied experience, and authentic dialogue. My practice is empowering, compassionate and collaborative.
I see therapy as a place to ease suffering, nurture self-worth, and explore what it means to live a meaningful life. Whether you are moving through anxiety, relationship challenges, or a time of change, I offer support that honours both your struggles and your deepest longings. My intention is to walk alongside you as you find steadiness, connection, and a life that feels true to who you are on the deepest level.
Outside of my therapy practice, I’m passionate about spirituality (non duality), creativity and movement practices like yoga and dance. I am a BWY yoga teacher and have practiced Ascension Meditation since 2010. In 2017, I completed my training as a teacher of Ascension with the Bright Path Ishayas. I have also been lovingly mentored for many years by transformational guru Dr Rosie Kuhn. These threads of connection continue to influence my work as a psychotherapist and growth as a human being.
As a member of the UKCP, I adhere strictly to their ethical guidelines.
Why work with a Gestalt Therapist in York?
Choosing a therapist is an important step. Working with me means:
Gently exploring how you relate - to yourself and others and bringing awareness to the patterns that shape your relationships, especially the ones that can feel hard to shift.
Slowing things down enough to truly notice what’s happening within you in the moment.
Working in an embodied way, grounded in Gestalt therapy and informed by my experience in yoga and meditation.
A space that welcomes both emotional depth and spiritual curiosity for those longing for something deeper and authentic.
